Coaches - Procedure to reschedule games or add practices
Open slots for rescheduling games and adding practices are now available. Games will always take precedence over practices. Click here to download the help document that has the detailed steps on how to add games or practices to your schedule.

The basic steps for rescheduling a game are:
  1. You and the opposing coach should look at the open dates on the schedule. Open times are denoted by "TBD" on the master schedule.
  2. Choose a date and time that works for both of your teams
  3. Home team should add the new game to the schedule through their team's event page
  4. Email your commissioner your original game and your rescheduled game date and time.

Please contact or with any questions.

2016 WBYB 8U Bulldogs Tryouts

2016 WBYB 8U Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are Briarcliffe Youth Baseball’s (WBYB) part-time traveling baseball program.  This program is geared towards WBYB players who are seeking a higher level of competition, game intensity, and a willingness to make a substantial commitment to playing baseball. Players are selected by attending one or two tryouts with a committee of independent WBYB coaches that will evaluate each player on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, commitment, effort and attitude.

The 2016 Bulldog program will begin practices in late-May in preparation for games starting mid-late June. During the season the team will have one Bulldog practice each week on a set day and time (TBD).  All Bulldog players are required to play in one of the Briarcliffe in-house leagues.  Once the in-house program is complete (mid-June) Bulldogs practices/games will increase during the week.  WBYB encourages all eligible players to try-out; however, not all players will make the team. The 2016 team will consist of no more than twelve players.  Based upon interest and talent levels, a second team may be formed.

Player Eligibility Requirements

  • Players must be registered to play in a 2016 WBYB In-house league
  • Players must be 8 years old (or younger) on 4/30/16 (birth certificate required, if selected)
  • Commitment….players should be available for all practices, games, and tournaments. If a player is not going to be available for any part of the season this must be specified prior to the first tryout

8U Bulldog Key Dates

  • By April 1, all players must be a registered WBYB in-house participant
  • Tryouts
    • Sunday, May 15th, 2016 from 4:00pm-6:00pm
Note:  Please arrive 15-20 minutes early each day to allow time for check-in
    • A secondary try-out may be necessary and will be determined after first try-out. Alternate date is 5/18/16.
  • Practices begin outdoors in late-May - weather permitting

Player Fee

  • The approximate cost is $275.00 per player which includes field use, umpire fees, uniforms (jersey/hat/socks), baseballs, tournament entry fees, and training fees.  All players will pay the same amount.

Schedule

  • May thru mid-June:  In-house games/practices, 1 Bulldogs practice per week, possible scrimmage games
  • June thru July:  3-4 tournaments, plus practice each week depending on tournament schedule
  • Tournaments
    • 3 or 4 individual tournaments in the Chicagoland area starting mid/late June, running through the end of July
    • Tournaments usually guarantee at least 3 games, win or lose
    • Tournament schedules will vary from 3 days to a full week
    • Weekday games usually start around 6pm, weekend game times will vary
    • Players should be prepared to play in all scheduled tournaments

Coach’s Contact Info

  • TBD. For questions, please contact Sean Brennan at WBYB….

Rainouts

For those divisions that use umpires, if you decide to cancel the game, please call Tim James of Official Finders (630-779-2497) immediately so that he can cancel the umpires for the game. (Tell him the field, division, teams playing.) If you are unable to reach him or get confirmation from him, at least one manager must show up to the game to dismiss the umpire. No need to call if all games are cancelled by the league.

If NO umpires show up to your game please call Tim James of Official Finders (630-779-2497) immediately.

In the event of lightning or thunder, all games and practices must be held up until safe conditions are apparent. This must include not only stopping play but advising all players and spectators to take shelter in a safe place, such as their cars or elsewhere. You must wait 30 minutes after the last sighting of lightning before resuming play. Please also treat thunder like lightning. This must be followed without exception.
